Team Photograph circa 1895.
The team photograph is from circa 1895, no members can at present be identified. Some of the team above could possibly have played in the first recorded match between Humshaugh and Haltwhistle on the 3rd July 1895, with Humshaugh being soundly beaten. The return game on the 24th July saw a much changed Humshaugh side run out convincing winners with Rev S.W.Walters scoring 109 and Boxall taking six wickets.
Little is known of the club pre 1945. In the immediate post war years a huge effort by people such as Benny Knox, Edward Waite, Dick Heslop and others was required to get the field back into a playable state after 6 years of neglect. The facilities at the ground were fairly basic up to 1962 until enough money was raised through the efforts of Dr Gibson, Schoolmaster Mr Bowman, Policeman Jimmy Middleton and Anthony Jelly to build the current pavilion. The first trophy came to the club in 1951 when the 2nd XI won Div II. In 1986 they won the Div II cup a team which contained the clubs current Chairman John Burn, and 2nd XI Captain Niall Benson.
Honours came to the 1st XI when in 1996 they were crowned champions of Div I captained by Nicholas Bowman of Wall. Further success was achieved by winning the League cup in 1997. A second league title followed in 1998 this time the team was captained by Martin Paminter of Walwick.
Success of the Junior Team can be seen on the Junior News Page.
